Welcome to Savannah's Playground - our designated play area for children (and parents) to enjoy during and after the race.  The playground will have children activities, our 2nd Annual Toddler Trot, and child safety information.

Savannah's Story

Savannah Caroline Pereira was conceived at Shady Grove Fertility and delivered April 30th, 2009. Within moments of birth, she smiled and squeezed her parents' fingers with love. Over the next 10 months her parents, Lisa & Charley, experienced unimaginable joy and love as Savannah amazed them with her tender, loving, and gentle ways. She woke up happy and went to bed happy. She called her parents Momma and Dada, pulled them in to kiss their faces, and smiled and clapped every time someone did something she liked.  After just 10 short months, Savannah died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 due to a tragic accident.

Lisa & Charley would like to thank their family and friends who helped bring Savannah into this world, care for, love, teach her, and help her have the happiest 10 months. And now in memory of Savannah Caroline, they would like to share the Savannah Grant and Savannah's Playground. The Savannah Grant will be given to one deserving family each year, as one of the Cade Foundation's Family Building Grants presented annually to families that wish to pursue adoption or fertility treatment. Savannah's Playground will be making its debut at this year's Cade Foundation Race for the Family. With each aspect of the playground, Cade Foundation and Shady Grove Fertility, wish to honor the life of Savannah and thank Lisa & Charley for their amazing strength and support. From the music played to the logo with a giraffe, representing Savannah's favorite toy, we remember Savannah.

At the end of the 5K & Fun Walk the kids will have the opportunity to show off their stuff and race each other!

Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival
Each kid will be provided with their own space and chalk to express themselves and color whatever they like

Montgomery County Police & EMS
Look at fire & police emergency vehicles and talk to the men & women in uniform.
